Altered Art- Beeswax on canvas

I have made this altered canvas which is 20cmx15cm by trying out beeswax using melt pot.To be honest, I didn't expect the final to look like this. For some reason,I didn't expect the candle to dry out as opaque.I thought they would be clear, crystal clear. But anyway, I have used again some lovely images (C1-174) from Crafty Individuals , including the clock, butterfly and girl face The frame rose and roses are from Tanda Stamps. I started by aplying some Distress ink in tea dye colour, and on top of this, I have applied some Distress ink in red brick colour. Then I have stamped some images on the canvas. I have also stamped some images on a nice background patterned paper from crafty individuals which you can find HERE. I found this paper to bring a very natural touch to this project as I wanted to bring some colours within the faces. Then after I have arranged my images and when I was happy with the layout, I took everything off as I knew what will come on first and what will come last, I started to apply the melted beeswax which act as a glue. I noticed that the more beeswax you apply , the more opaque it will appear. I used a foam brush to achieve some lined texture as well. And voila! I quite like this little piece of Art and it was really easy.I hope that this has inspired you to do an altered canvas.

Hugs to you

I had these stamps since a while now, which are called Flourishes Set 1 from Tanda Stamps . This is lovely set and I wanted so much to do a few techniques with them but I have managed to so only this one so far. I have stamped onto transparent vellum using white versma colour ink pad.The butterfly is a stamp from clever cut .I have stamped some flourishes images again onto pink vellum this time. Then I have cut out some flowers from the pink vellum and I have attached them onto the transparent vellum using white brads while making sure they match the one underneath. I used my fiskars cutting shape to do the scallop edge and glued everything down onto pink card. Next I have cut the edge of the card and some dotty paper from DCWV spring stack to get a scallop edge. I mount the dotty paper and align it to the edge of the card, then mount the stamped images on top. I finished off gluing down some satin pink ribbon and stamped 'Hugs to you' from Hero Arts set.

I just love these stamps.I think they can be used for many occasions....watch out this space as I will be doing some more with them.....how about heat embossed them??

Celestial

This is the Daring Cardmaker's Challenge for Friday 08/06/07

and the dare goes:
Hi it's Keryn here and it's my turn to set the dare this week. This time I asked my family for ideas for this weeks dare and the best amongst a lot of ideas including power tools etc, etc was Lachlan's ideas for Space. It's been his topic at school this term. (Lachlan is seven and in Year 3). To make in a little easier on you all I've called it Celestial to also include horoscopes as well as planets, spaceships, stars, suns etc. How you use these items is up to you.

Okayyy! These are the materials I took out to do this project as I didnt really know what to make for this challenge....

I came up with...

I have used tanda horoscopes stamsp, and clever cut stamp(fairy), and some chalking for the backgroun. The fairy has been stamped with versamark then brushed over with pearl ex.
